Ca. 1 hour by train to south-west of Oslo, Trestock is the rock festival
that is held in the woods of Gullhaug, the suburbs of Holmestrand every summer. It was
the 6th anniversary this year. There is no advertisement of the festival, but everyone
comes by word of mouth. This situation gives the festival a big individuality that makes
people more familiar. That was actually why Vagabond decided to play there. When Ronni got
an offer from his friend, he immediately answered "Yes, of course". There were 7 bands that
took part in. Most of them were local bands.
This time Jørn & Steinar could not play together because of the
inconvenient schedules. Ronni, Morty and Dag got a guest drummer Totto Hansen. Vocalist
this time was Ronni himself, even if you believe it or not. It was not only this that was
unusual. As you can see on the set-list above, Vagabond did a very special performance
here. Mixed songs from Vagabond, Rypdal & Tekrø and TNT, and arrangements were almost
improvised moreover. Perfect playing ability that is well known, plus the spirit like
local bands that reminds us very early TNT period. The show was amazingly powerful.
The show for 90 mins in the midnight, probably looked like Ronni´s
independent stage because of his guitar leads, solos and lead vocals. Japanese fans
must remember it. "Morty´s 5-finger-trick" at TNT concert in Japan, came with "Do You Like
It?" here. With "10 000 Lovers", Ronni & an audience sang the chorus together. "Harley
Davidson" in Norwegian language, was the one that the band answered fans request promptly.
"Just A Smile" may be a song that includes a message from Ronni. It is played last at the
Rypdal & Tekrø show too.
Nedless to say that Vagabond´s appearance was so meaningful for both
promotors and audience as much as the band themselves. After the show, Vagabond got "the
special honor prize" that expressed exactly thankfulness from the people at Trestock.
